About this course

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

  • MIMIX clients who are preparing their computing environments for high availability, and will be responsible for operations of the MIMIX environment.
  • New MIMIX clients
    • Class is appropriate for entry level offering clients
  • New Partners (SE/SA/consultant)

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • Introduction to Replication
    • Introduces the basics of journaling and how it is used in logical replication. Gain an understanding of how replication in MIMIX is performed and the use of remote journaling. Learn how the replication process works for the various objects on the IBM i™ (iSeries).
  • Introduction to Assure Unified Interface (AUI)
    • Learn how to start and stop the AUI server, gain experience in navigating the interface and learn how to set the preferences in the portlets. You will learn how to free yourself from having to continually check your MIMIX installation by learning how to setup and use the lights out monitoring feature within AUI.
  • Introduction to Operations
    • Introduces the basic tasks, processes, and concepts that will help you more efficiently manage your MIMIX HA environment on a day to day basis. During the workshop you will gain understanding on the correct way in which to start and stop replication. You will also learn about MIMIX Procedures and how they are used within MIMIX.
  • Introduction to Problem Identification
    • Learn basic MIMIX skills that can be used to recognize and resolve common replication issues. Learn how to identify problems with journaling, audits, and other replication errors. Understand the best methods to identify and resolve common issues.
  • Introduction to Configuration
    • Introduces the MIMIX configuration definitions and how they interact with each other to accomplish replication. During the workshop, you will gain understanding on how to add Libraries, Directories and Folders to replication as well how to exclude certain objects.
  • Introduction to Auditing
    • Introduces the basic tasks, processes, and concepts that will help you understand auditing of your MIMIX HA environment on a day-to-day basis. During the workshop, you will gain understanding of what audits are available and the auto correction they provide. You will learn how to navigate to find the current audit schedules, results, and history of past audits.
  • Introduction to Switching
    • Experience the simplicity of running a switch with MIMIX through demonstrations of virtual and planned switches. Attendees will learn how Procedures are an integral part of operating and switching of MIMIX environments. Additionally, they will gain an understanding of the differences between virtual, planned, and unplanned switches.
