About this course

The order the Category Attributes for each taxonomy node to which they are assigned is configurable.  While this order is not applied to the attributes in the detail editor (the order is defined in the Profile), it does apply to exports where the file is split by taxonomy node.  For In Design Publications, this attribute order can be used to define the order for the attributes in Publication Templates generated by the Publication Merge feature.  For, View (SQL Based) Scheduled Exports, the Category Attribute assignment and sequence information can be passed to downstream systems.  For Print Publications, the sequence can be used in a Publication Merge specification. While the Category Attribute sequence for a taxonomy node can be defined in the UI, it requires selecting each node, then clicking a button to change the sequence, and then changing the order through drag and drop of each attribute.  If there are a large number of taxonomy nodes, this manual process can be tedious and error-prone.  An alternative is to export the Category Attribute Associations, including the current sequence into an Excel Spreadsheet, where the order of the attributes can be updated efficiently across all taxonomy nodes, then imported into EnterWorks.  This operation is possible by using one stored procedure to extract the Category Attribute associations and another stored procedure to update the sequences.  This session covers managing the sequence in both the UI and using the stored procedures.

Prerequisites - ETT 046, ETT 056, EBA 211
